First off, I would like to say that this is not even a question, for we are born here in the city of Brother-LEE-love and we bleed red, just as it should be. The Phillies are one of the oldest teams and have been around since 1883, while the Yankees started in 1901. Plus, we Phillies fans are born with this true hatred for the blue devils, or as others may refer to them as the Yanks.
People say the Yankees are better because they won some games, but the Yankees’ payroll was and still is by far the highest at over $200 million, which is double that of the Phillies. They live by signing this free agent for millions and when he didn't work out, they signed another for even more money. They can afford to replace ineffective players and buy quality replacements for injured guys without a second thought. They can outspend their front-office mistakes and outspend any injury disaster. They sent scouts to Japan, to Panama, to Guatemala, to Venezuela. They set up baseball academies. They should be able to win the World Series every year. No excuses!
Their games are boring, just like watching bullies beat someone up. Who would want to watch that? The Phillies work hard to get where they are; that‘s why we call them the Fightin’ Phils. They play nail bitters, but they always pull out a win in the last few innings. Philly Phans are the best and our biggest one is the Phanatic. You will never see a better mascot around that encourages the team; fans and will pummel the other team’s mascot (Mr. Met for instance) if they talk smack about us. We are not like other fans, if our team were ever lazy; we would not just simply stand by and show them fake smiles like all the rest. We would never tolerate it and we would make sure the players knew it. We show tough love and this is why they have this strong passion to continue on and never give up. Citizens Bank Park was made for the people; we don’t charge an arm and a leg just for a seat, unlike the Yankees who apparently only have room for their business investors.
The Phillies are one of the top scorers in more homeruns in postseason play. Chase Utley just tied the record at five for most home runs in a World Series. I mean let’s face it, when it comes down to Cheesesteaks vs. Steriods, Cheesesteaks win every time.
ObviousLEE we don’t have to CHASE the pennant anyMOYER, but we still have to figure out HOWARD going to bring another home. We have to keep ROLLINS up the STAIRS because it’s WERTH yelling with our hands in the EYRE and hanging off the LIDGE because it will end in a VICTORINO! If they follow the MANUEL the… PHILLIES fans will be HAPPY and we RAUUUL.
